Research supervision

Any Executive DBA applicant is guaranteed to have a supervisor who has an excellent research track record directly related to the DBA topic. This is a rare facility that can only be undertaken by an institution with the research breadth of Brooklyn. The Executive DBA Programme will only take on an applicant if they can be supervised by a member of faculty who is a ‘High-class’ researcher in their chosen field.

  • Research Methods Course
Each of the Research Method Course modules is assessed through assignments that require students to link the concepts from that module to their own research project.
  • Qualifying Report
The RMC is designed to lead to the development of a Qualifying Report, a written document approximately 6,000 words in length which forms the basis for the final thesis. The Qualifying Report is examined by viva voce and has to be successfully completed before the student proceeds onto the next stage of the research project.
  • Final Thesis
The research project culminates in the submission of a final thesis of up to 50,000 words in length. The thesis must be successfully defended by viva voce before the degree can be awarded.

The culmination of the DBA programme, this written project demonstrates the student’s mastery and integration of all previous learning. It is an original, scholarly work that applies the student’s new knowledge and experience, proving mastery of the techniques studied. Writing a doctoral thesis can be a daunting task. For this reason, the Brooklyn has integrated a support system into the programme to enable students to progress successfully through the stages of thesis development. In fact, students begin “scaffolding” thesis-writing skills midway through the programme in mentoring sections that allow them to share ideas with other students while building a rapport with a faculty mentor. Thesis development lasts between one and two years and consists of four stages. These stages are: developing the thesis proposal, faculty review and approval of the proposal, writing the thesis itself, and the oral examination (known as the “viva voce”) of the thesis.

What do you need to get your degree? To get your DBA degree you have:

  • Attend at least 70% from courses in the first year
  • Should attend an international conference related to your thesis
  • The pilgrims for your thesis should not excesses 25%
  • Your idea should apply on Egypt’ problem or comparison between Egypt and other countries

Result of your Viva may be:

  • Pass without any correction
  • Pass with minor correction (1-2 months)
  • Pass with major correction (3-5 months)
  • Failure (you will get a certificate from Brooklyn)
